Find a Property Insurance Appraiser or Umpire

Search public profiles by role, location, specialty, listed experience, and verification status. Compare the assignment fit, then confirm credentials, conflicts, availability, and fees directly with the professional.

    Choose the right role

Appraiser and umpire are different assignments

    Insurance appraiser

In a common appraisal-panel structure, each side selects an appraiser to evaluate the amount of loss and exchange a supported position. The issued policy controls the qualifications and assignment.

    Insurance umpire

The umpire is the panel's third member when the two appraisers cannot resolve one or more valuation differences. Selection and signing rules depend on the policy and applicable law.

Insurance appraisal is not the same as a real estate appraisal. It is a policy-based claim process. Read the appraisal clause before selecting anyone, especially if the dispute involves coverage, legal rights, or who may demand appraisal.

A verification badge reflects the platform's directory record or approval status. It is not a blanket endorsement or proof of current credentials, independence, availability, or suitability for a particular assignment. Verify those points directly before engagement.

    Before you hire

    Use a six-point selection checklist

    Role and assignment

Confirm whether the policy calls for an appraiser, an umpire, or another adviser.

    Relevant experience

Ask about similar property, damage, assignment size, and valuation issues.

    Service area

Confirm that the professional can serve where the property and claim are located.

    Credentials

Verify current licenses or certifications with the issuing source when they matter to the work.

    Conflicts

Ask about relationships, prior assignments, and financial interests that could affect independence.

    Terms

Discuss fees, expenses, timing, availability, communication, and deliverables before engagement.

Understand the process before selecting the panel

Learn what an appraisal clause can address, how the common panel structure works, and which questions to answer before sending a demand.
